Publisher Synopsis
Praise for Wesley James Ruined My Life "The book's even pacing will entice teens from the start and keep them reading . . . . This [is a] pitch-perfect quirky summer romance." --School Library Journal"This book was adorable! Light, cute, and a quick read--exactly what I needed. . . . I will definitely be keeping an eye out for more books by Honeybourn in the future." --The Eater of Books"Immensely readable, utterly charming and absolutely un-put-downable. The duality of Quinn longing to forget Wesley while hurting over being forgotten by her Gran was just beautiful. I got a little weepy. I'm not going to lie." --Jennifer McKenzie Read more...

While the typical sixteen-year-old girl might be concerned with the social complexities of high school, Shelby Black is not your ordinary sixteen-year-old, and she certainly has much greater, otherworldly challenges than what the average high school can offer. When Life Gives You Demons ,by Jennifer Honeybourn, introduces us to Shelby, a girl living with a priest she calls Uncle Roy, while her mom has gone missing. We soon learn that Shelby is studying exorcism under the tutelage of Uncle Roy and that Shelby's mother was an exorcist as well. An exorcist, really?!? That's right, in Shelby's world, demons abound and possess both the unsuspecting and spiritually weak. Who better to save the day other than the sixteen-year-old Shelby who has just enough confidence to go against Uncle Roy's instructions and attempt exorcisms on her own. As you can imagine, things go desperately wrong. As to not spoil the journey you'll take with Shelby, know that she does face the all to real social pressures of every teenager, though she will resort to some unconventional approaches in this alternative coming of age story.
