I've searched for many years for a comprehensive book to educate me on the wonderful works of this very talented American wax doll artist and hadn't any luck until I bought a copy of Mr. Kouri's outstanding book: Lewis Sorensen - The Master of Wax. His keen interest in this artist, and masterful sculpting, dressing bring each of the life size mannequins, historical figures and dolls to life.
This is the BEST Book ever written on this world famous Wax artist. Mr. Kouri chose to use black and white photographs to show distinct fine details in many of the figures he shows in his book. The Color photos are just as marvelous. One aspect I fully enjoyed in this book is the fact that the author provides chapters on the various hand styles, shoes, hairdo's, and textiles used to create the wax effigies. Mr Sorensen's painstakingly accurate attention to detail in his wax work is amazing.
The author also helps the reader to understand why the artist chose to recreate various subjects of human beings in wax doll form including movie stars, royalty, presidents, comics, and historical figures galore.
If you love collecting contemporary wax dolls, this is a Must Have for your library. I understand Mr. Kouri is now writing an appraisal guide to Lewis Sorensen's artwork. There are no other books on the market today as outstanding as Mr. Kouri's research project and I am proud to not only own his book, but many of his other titles, and educational DVD's as well.
I wonder why they didn't provide a photograph of this marvelous, informative and educational book in this listing.
