A Life-Saver For Me

I can't explain all the many ways this book helped me. Until you get trapped in this care giving pit and feel the loneliness and despair you just won't understand what it means to have hope again. To learn to laugh and not constantly kick yourself because of the way things are. I feel like I am not just saving one life now but as I work towards my badge of courage I can see my own salvation.
What really galls me is that I just didn't even see this whole caregiving thing coming. I thought, just what is there to know that I don't already know? I have raised a family, visited sick people as a volunteer at the hospital and stayed married to a recovering alcoholic. I know about illness and behavior! I believed that lie, I really did.
I now have a family member that is going downhill on a bumpy road. Suddenly I am just trying to keep my head above water. Nothing was going like it was supposed to. I am deeply depressed and enjoy staring at the wall more than watching TV. I started buying all the books I could find. Money was not an issue when it comes to my sanity. I had read at least a dozen other books until I came across this. A life saver.
I know you. You are agreeing with me but still thinking how difficult can caregiving be? I can always find a book later if I need. What planning? Give me a break.
I know you. You make the same mistakes I do.

BEST RESOURCE I HAVE SEEN
I am a nurse and part time caregiver. I applaud what this author has accomplished. Put some difficult concepts into something anybody can understand and I didn't need my reading glasses either. Lays out what you need to know and what is most important to get done, like yesterday. Solves problems....

Lays out what you need to know and what is most important to get done, like yesterday. Solves problems. You won't go to sleep reading this. I loved the humor section for light reading and section of quotations for inspiration.
Everyone should have this. Got to run now because I am on call...enjoy it!
